Creating the Ultimate Caribbean Coastal Cubby: A Dreamy Hideaway for Sam, Snez, and Their Family

Sam’s first thought on our design… “Safe to say you’ve nailed it!!”

In crafting the Caribbean Coastal Cubby, we aimed not only to fulfil Sam and Snez's vision but also to create a sanctuary where their family can cultivate cherished memories for years to come. With every element carefully chosen and thoughtfully integrated, the cubby stands as a testament to the power of
design to inspire joy, creativity, and boundless adventure.

Here’s everything you need to know about the cubby we created for Sam, Snez and their adorable girl gang.

Cubby and Fort

At the heart of our creation lies the Billie Grand Cubby, Mud Kitchen, and River Fort, thoughtfully selected from the talented artisans at Hide and Seek Kids (HSK). These meticulously crafted structures form the foundation of a whimsical retreat where endless adventures await.

Paint Colours

Drawing inspiration from the hues of their beachside abode, we adorned the cubby with a palette reminiscent of sun-kissed shores.

 White Cloak (Dulux) – Exterior, interior and roof
 Snowy Mountains (Dulux) – Trims
 Brown Land (Dulux) – Floors
 Pink Dust (Dulux) – Door and mud kitchen
 Half Forest Green (Resene) – Cottage front, shelves, flower box

The Mood Board

Our design journey began with a vision inspired by the Caribbean Colonial style, in harmony with the family's beach house aesthetic envisioned by Kate Walker Design. White walls, dark timber floors, rattan furniture, pineapple accents, palm trees and vibrant botanical prints set the stage for an enchanting haven.

Sam approved the first draft and we got to work to source pieces to fit the vibe.

As usual, this simple mood board was created using the pic collage app.

The Wallpaper

Injecting a touch of tropical whimsy, our new wallpapers, Caribbean Dreams and Sweet Pineapples, evoke a sense of playful tranquillity.

Customized checkers wallpaper adorn the pergola, seamlessly integrating with the slide, swings, cubby door, and the home's internal and external floor to create a cohesive oasis of fun and style.
